This opens up the possibilities to lift your vehicle with several rear spring choices. If you are fortunate enough to own a totally sweet Toyota 4Runner or Lexus GX460 / GX470, one of the premium options these Prado’s came with was the Rear Adjustable Height Control (AHC) air suspension. Really cool tech, but not without its issues. The AHC system uses airbags for the rear suspension in place of coil springs.
So, while AHC is cool when its new and works, it’s also a financial nightmare when there’s a problem or the airbags need to be replaced. The OEM airbags are extremely expensive. So much so, you can buy an entirely new Ironman4x4 performance suspension kit with the Ironman4x4 Adjustable Airbag Delete kit for less money than the cost of two new OEM replacement air bags!
Ironman 4x4’s engineering team developed a more reliable and cost-effective solution, the Adjustable Air Bag Delete Kit. It’s super easy to install, comes with clear and easy to follow instructions, is bolt on and requires no welding, cutting, or modifying any OEM parts on your vehicle.
The kit’s custom drop-forged aluminum spring seats were made to cradle the coil in perfect position to soothe away any annoying squeaks and creaks. The coil springs are as happy as a chubby 4x4 baby in a muddy diaper. (Aren’t crawling babies technically 4x4 too?)
The adjustable threaded body of the EDP-coated steel base bolts securely into place on top of the rear axle. Once secured, just spin the drop-forged aluminum spring seat down onto the adjustable threaded base and set it to your desired ride height. These allow for over 1 inch of adjustment. Also don’t forget, these Adjustable Airbag Delete Kits are great for eliminating the dreaded “Left Hand Lean” found on USDM vehicles.
This is why having a solution to adjust your rear suspension is such a big deal. Until now, coil spacers could get you close, but now you can get it dialed in perfectly!
Once you have the spring seats installed, lock down the provided set screw (so they don’t accidentally get bumped out of position) and install your Ironman 4x4 coil springs. Don’t forget to drop your cone isolator bump stops into the top of the coil springs. These cones are a secondary bump stop and they help locate the top of the coil spring into the upper spring perch of your truck.
